Publishing Charges

South American Publishing (SAP) is committed to the dissemination of scientific and academic knowledge through an open access publishing model that promotes the unrestricted accessibility, visibility, and long-term preservation of scholarly content.

All publications released by SAP are made openly available online immediately upon publication, allowing readers worldwide to access, read, download, share, and cite scholarly works without subscription barriers, in accordance with the applicable licensing terms established by each publication.

To sustain the editorial, technological, and operational infrastructure required for high-quality scholarly publishing, SAP applies publishing charges to selected publication programs and publication types.

South American Publishing (SAP) may apply the following publishing charges depending on the publication type and editorial program:

• Article Processing Charges (APCs): 
Applicable to scholarly journals and article-based publications.

• Book Processing Charges (BPCs): 
Applicable to academic books, edited volumes, monographs, and book chapters.

• Conference and Proceedings Charges (CPCs):
Applicable to conference proceedings, abstracts, congress publications, and related scholarly event outputs.

Applicable charges may vary depending on the journal, book project, proceedings program, manuscript type, editorial workflow requirements, production specifications, language requirements, and publication format.

Specific fees, temporary waivers, discounts, promotional periods, or institutional agreements are published individually on the corresponding publication website or communicated directly by the editorial office.

South American Publishing (SAP) does not charge submission fees for standard editorial evaluation processes unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Rejected submissions are not subject to publishing charges.

Publishing charges contribute to sustaining the editorial, technological, operational, and dissemination infrastructure required for professional open access scholarly publishing.

Funds derived from APCs, BPCs, and CPCs may support the following activities and services:

• Coordination and administration of peer review processes

• Publication ethics oversight and research integrity verification

• PDF, HTML, XML, EPUB, and digital publication formats
• Metadata preparation and normalization
• DOI registration and Crossref deposits
• ORCID integration and metadata enrichment

Digital Infrastructure and Preservation
• Maintenance and development of OJS and OMP publishing platforms
• Website hosting, technical monitoring, and cybersecurity services

Publishing charges are exclusively intended to sustain and improve scholarly publishing operations, editorial quality, technological infrastructure, and the dissemination of scientific and academic knowledge.

Payment of publishing charges does not influence editorial decisions, peer review outcomes, or publication acceptance.

All submissions are evaluated exclusively according to scientific quality, academic relevance, originality, ethical compliance, editorial scope, and peer review outcomes.

Editorial decisions are entirely independent from the payment capability of authors, institutions, sponsors, or funding entities.

Payment or non-payment of publishing charges does not guarantee acceptance, expedited review, favorable editorial outcomes, or publication.

South American Publishing (SAP) may grant partial or full waivers, discounts, or temporary publication support programs under specific editorial, institutional, scientific, or strategic circumstances.

Waivers or discounts may be considered for:

• Editorial board members and reviewers
• Institutional agreements or collaborative programs
• Special editorial initiatives or thematic collections
• Temporary promotional periods
• Invited contributions
• Strategic scientific collaborations
• Exceptional academic or scientific merit
• Authors with demonstrated funding limitations

All waivers, discounts, and publication support programs are granted exclusively at the discretion of South American Publishing (SAP) and may vary between journals, books, proceedings, and editorial programs.

Editorial evaluation and peer review processes remain fully independent from waiver or discount considerations.

Publishing charges, including APCs, BPCs, and CPCs, are invoiced only after a submission has successfully completed editorial evaluation and has received formal acceptance for publication.

Applicable publishing charges are determined according to the publication type, journal or book program, editorial workflow requirements, manuscript characteristics, and production specifications established by South American Publishing (SAP).

Only one official invoice will generally be issued per accepted submission unless otherwise authorized by the publisher.

Payments may be made through the payment methods authorized by SAP, including bank transfer, credit card, PayPal, or other approved electronic payment systems.

Publication processes, including final production and publication scheduling, will proceed once full payment confirmation has been received, unless alternative arrangements, institutional agreements, or approved waivers have been formally established.

Authors, institutions, sponsors, or funding agencies are responsible for any transaction fees, taxes, currency conversion charges, or international banking costs associated with the payment process.

Official payment confirmations and receipts will be issued electronically after payment verification.

Authors are responsible for carefully reviewing and approving the final proofs of accepted manuscripts prior to publication.

Proof correction stages are intended exclusively for the correction of typographical, formatting, or production-related errors.

Substantial modifications to manuscript content after the manuscript has entered final production are strongly discouraged. This includes significant changes to data, authorship, references, figures, tables, affiliations, or scientific interpretation.

Where substantial post-layout modifications are requested by the authors and require additional editorial, production, or design work, South American Publishing (SAP) reserves the right to apply additional production or correction charges proportional to the complexity of the requested modifications.

Any applicable additional charges will be communicated to the corresponding author before implementation.

Publishing charges contribute to supporting editorial evaluation, peer review coordination, production services, digital infrastructure, metadata management, indexing workflows, dissemination services, and long-term preservation systems.

For this reason, refunds are generally not available once substantial editorial or production work has been performed on a submission.

Refunds, partial refunds, or publication credits may be considered only under exceptional circumstances and exclusively at the discretion of South American Publishing (SAP).

Refunds will generally not be granted under the following circumstances:

• Retraction or Removal After Publication
If an article, book chapter, proceedings paper, or other publication is retracted or removed after publication, publishing charges will not be refunded, as editorial, production, dissemination, indexing, and preservation services have already been provided.

• Author-Initiated Withdrawal After Acceptance
If authors request withdrawal of a submission after formal acceptance or after production processes have begun, refunds will generally not apply.

• Ethical Violations or Scientific Misconduct
Refunds will not be granted in cases involving plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, copyright infringement, unethical research practices, manipulation of peer review, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or other violations of publication ethics.

• Delays Outside Publisher Responsibility
South American Publishing (SAP) is not responsible for delays caused by author revisions, incomplete documentation, institutional procedures, reviewer availability, force majeure events, technical disruptions outside publisher control, or external indexing platform processing times.

• Third-Party Repository and Indexing Availability
While SAP ensures publication and preservation on its official platforms, the publisher cannot guarantee synchronization times, metadata accuracy, indexing timelines, or uninterrupted availability on external repositories, databases, aggregators, or third-party indexing systems.

• Exceptional Publisher Error
In cases where publication cannot proceed exclusively because of a verified publisher or editorial processing error, SAP may evaluate partial refunds proportional to the stage of editorial and production services already completed.
